A customer asked:
My foundations manuals B and C don't have instructions to use the new books "Whistling Whales" and Knitting Knights." Do you have any additional instructions about how to use new books with the foundations manuals that were published before the new books?
Yes, we do!
Whenever you teach a new multi-letter phonogram in Foundations B, read that phonogram's page in Whistling Whales: Beyond the Sounds of ABC to your child. Play with and notice the sounds of the new phonogram! The purpose is to provide an enjoyable way to explore each phonogram's sounds and hear them at work in words.
If you like, read it multiple times, asking your child to jump or make a particular motion when he hears a particular sound, or when she hears any sound of the phonogram. Or ask the child which sound of the phonogram it is each time.
Whenever you teach a new multi-letter phonogram from Foundations C, do the same with that phonogram's page in Knitting Knights: Beyond the Sounds of ABC.
In newer printings of the Foundations B and C Teacher's Manuals, instructions to use these books are incorporated into the lessons. Whistling Whales was added to the B Teacher's Manual in the second edition (2018). Knitting Knights was added to the C Teacher's Manual in the second edition (2018).
