The Doodling Dragons ABC Songs include the letter names for each letter. However, LOE instructs parents/teachers NOT to teach letter names in the beginning, focusing on sounds instead, so why do the songs include the letter names?
The letter names were included in the songs intentionally. We decided we had to include the names somewhere in the songs for two reasons:
1) You aren't looking at the phonogram necessarily when you listen to it. So you need a point of reference, or else it's just "there is a phonogram that says __".
2) Our goal was to make these a valuable learning resource for those not using our curriculum as well as those who are (and those who are brand new to LOE). We knew parents who had never heard of phonograms and did not know their sounds might be confused if the songs did not mention what letters the songs were referencing.
Though the songs mention the names of the letters, the focus of your instruction will be on the phonogram sounds! The Doodling Dragons ABC Songs are a great way to explore the sounds, as well as to begin introducing the letter names.
