The list of Advanced Phonograms we teach continues to evolve as we discover new patterns and as the language adopts new words, so there have been a number of additions to our Advanced Phonogram Flash Cards over the years.
Edition History: Advanced Phonogram Flash Cards
Edition 1: Published in 2011. 36 cards.
Edition 2: Published in 2015. 48 cards. Included the following new phonograms: aa, e saying /ā/, ée, eo, gn, ie saying /ĕ/, j saying /h/ and /y/, kh, mn, pn, sch, sci, and xi. Removed x saying /z/, as this is now taught as a Basic Phonogram.
Edition 3: Published in 2018. 50 cards. Includes the following new phonograms: zz, ñ, ll saying /y/. Removed ie saying /ĕ/; this is used only in friend (and in some pronunciations of hygienic), and we currently mark this spelling as one of the rare true exceptions.
